I was part of a design team responsible for the Sony Accessories in my role as Head of Creation Design Companion at Sony Ericsson Creative Design Center.
Continuing on the theme of the Sony Ericsson accessories which launched in 2010 and 2011, Sony recently launched the latest accessories for the Sony Xperia products.
Smart WatchThis is the follow up to the LiveView which was launched in 2010. LiveView launched as a beta-product, where we wanted to observe how the consumer reacted and interacted with the product. On the Smart Watch these learnings have been put into life. The quality of the hardware has been significantly improved to withstand multiple user-scenarios (its dust and splash proof) and it has been optimized for wrist-wearing, but still with a clip on the back. It can be used with the optimized Sony wristbands or with any 20mm wristband. It interacts with the phone using Bluetooth technology and one can go roughly one week between charges with low usage. Sony Smart Watch can store upto 255 widgets and is totally customizable. Some of the important widgets take care of Facebook, Twitter updates, time and date, SMS, email, call handling, music handling etc
Smart Wireless Headset Pro is a Bluetooth stereo headset which also works as a standalone media player and FM-radio and the hidden display shows messages, caller names, media titles and more. The headset was designed in parallell with the next generation Xperia products, the recently launched Xperia Ion and Xperia S, and has the same striking simplicity and iconic qualities. The aim with the design was to create a product which is less of an ordinary consumer electronics product and more of high-quality fashion-inspired accessory.
