  •  Pennyfields Collection A collection of tables and chairs made from Bamboo & Steel by Alex Whitney for Pli Design Ltd
  • I designed the Pennyfields chair to show off the beauty of bamboo. The raw bamboo that we have selected is produced to the highest international quality standards by Pli’s long-standing supply partner in the Zhejiang province of eastern China, close to Shanghai. All the production is carried out by British manufacturers based around the South of England. This combination of cultures is reflected in the name ‘Pennyfields’; a street in Limehouse which was the first ‘China-town’ in London, after Chinese sailors settled in the area in the the 19th century.
