PUSH & PIVOT
Info
Description
The lidded container is a study into Jean-Baptiste Lamark quote of “the form follows the function”.
The vessel was designed around the 45˚ pivot hinge. The object was refined and simplified down to the basic visual elements: the body, the lid and the hinge. It was an exploration into the dominance and importance of each visual component.
The hinges design required absolute precision, pushing the technical limits. The object’s materials lend themselves to be machined with accuracy, to allow for this requirement.
Push & Pivot has been shortlisted in Talente 2013.
