Description
The Original Nokia Fashion Collection (7260, 7270 and 7280) was, at first, an exclamation, and the start point to research new ideas in mobile communication. So, in 2005, they organized a contest in Argentina, where they asked participants to design accessories for this collection.

When studying the mobile scenario, I detected three things. The first one was that sometimes, the mobile phone user doesn’t want to be interrupted by the sound of an incoming call, but he might need to know someone is trying to communicate with him. The second was the fact that, in home and work, we left our mobile phone in a desk, and we move in the place forgetting to carry it with us. The last one was that women usually take their phones in bags or purses, and many times this makes difficult to hear the ringing.

  • Icon are a wristband and a ring, that shows the user if his phone has received a call or message, in a subtle but effective way. The devices are communicate with the phone via a Bluetooth interface.
  • In the band, an OLED, duo-chromatic display is covered by a polycarbonate case, and a D-Pad is located on its right, separated by a white line, like the ones present in Nokia 7280.
By touching the pad up and down, you can navigate between the four different modes: messages, calls, watch and dynamic graphics. Touching right or left, you can scroll the message, or load another one, but when it is first received, it auto scrolls.
  • The watch is one of the idle function, while the other is the display of dynamic graphics, inspired in the lines used in the fashion collection. It’s the idle function by default: a moment after the display is set in one of the other three functions, it changes to this one automatically.
  • The silicon rubber wristband can be easily interchanged with one of a different length or color, and the battery can also be changed just removing its cap, which is in the case, beneath de display.
  • The ring is intended for the thumb, and when a new message arrives, it’s line illuminates in white. When the phone is ringing, the same line illuminates in red.
There are two models, with different lines over the surface. They are entirely covered in black silicon rubber, with the exception of the lines, that have a clear coating.
