  • O conceito do MABI foi desenvolvido para uma disciplina de projeto do produto do segundo ano do curso de design da Universidade de São Paulo. O MABI consistem em um scanner tridimensional a ser utilizado por profissionais da área odontológica e tem como proposta: facilitar o processo de produção de modelos tridimensionais da arcada dentária do paciente, além de tornar esse método menos invasivo e demorado que os utilizados atualmente pelos profissionais da área.

    O produto baseia-se principalmente no mapeamento a laser mas também se utiliza de outras tecnologias digitais. É composto por duas partes principais, o scanner 3D e o monitor de visualização. Por lidar com informações digitalizadas o produto permite ao dentista uma gama maior de informações sobre as condições do paciente além de tornar o procedimento de captação do molde da boca um processo mais prático e menos suscetível a erros.
  • The concept of Mabi was developed in a discipline of product design in the second-year of  design at the University of Sao Paulo. Mabi consists on a three-dimensional scanner to be used by dental professionals. Its proposal was to turn the process of producing three-dimensional models from the dental arcade of the patient easier, and make this method less invasive and time consuming than the ones we know today.

    The product has its main idea based on a laser-mapping technology but also takes advantage of several other digital technologies. It consists in two main parts: the 3D scanner and the monitor display. One of Mabi's great advantages in relation to the methods used today is that its digitized information allows dentists to get in contact with a wider range of information on patient conditions as well as make the procedure of capturing the mold of the mouth a more practical and less prone to errors.

  • The bar is made of polipropilen, stainless steel and the rotative mirror.
  • There is a sensitive button to start the scanning procedure in the indicated spot near the line where the polypropylen meets the steel. Also, in the end of the bar is located the switch button to power on and off the equipment.

  • The monitor has two main functions: store the scanned data (transfered through a wireless system between the bar and the monitor) and also allow the professional to visualize information about the pacient status.Its made of a white polymer, the LED touchscreen and the stainless steel surface on the other side.
  • The monitor has a simple rotation mecanism that allows its user to adapt the screen to the best position as possible. In the side of it, there are usb ports for data transfer and the energy cable plug to recharge its battery.
  • The scanner can be kept inside the desk, in a compartiment revealed when the monitor is in its use position.The piston is used to set the desk's height, and the wheels easily allow the user to move the whole support of the screen.
