Layla
- Layla
Compact Classic - Layla was my first project for Boss. Set as an interview brief and completed as an initiation into the company.
The aim was to produce a minimally styled but detailed range with clean lines and balanced proportions. The upholstery had to be firm with a comfortable sit.
The range was launched in 2008 and was accepted as a freshlook to the portfolio. It soon developed into one of our core products, outselling any other piece of upholstery in our collection. Layla was a success, so we decided to increase the range by adding modular units.

The Layla range was a success, so we decided to increase therange by adding modular units.

Magnets link each unit together. Without the clumsily mechanisms the units can be easily rearranged.I created this short animation to demonstrate the ranges versatility.
