    a collection of travelling furniture

    The project is inspired by the strongly evocative and story-telling power of travel gear. Special at- tention is given to the way such items are made, the primary behaviours for which they are instru- mental, their utility, and intercultural solutions. The project is very much focused on the prevailing modern-day life-style characterised by frequent and disruptive displacements.

    Mobility, then, is a key factor in the design of such ?itinerant? items, which must be able to easily travel with their proprietor. They must first and foremost be light of weight and bounded by a perfect outer shell. The enclosure must in fact feature an essential geometry with special attention given to fittings so as to ensure a perfect seal when the object is closed. While not bulky, the casing must nevertheless be shaped so as perfectly hold and protect its contents, thus fully guaranteeing their integrity during transport.

    When closed, the object appears like a compact unit but opens up into two equal parts, iden- tical in structure but with different details and finish, one for ?her?, the other for ?him?. Two equally hexagonal shaped seats fold open at the centre, held up by a belt-like supporting structure.
  • Hi-Think

    A bookcase as a travel mate. A stand-alone item with a perso- nality all of its own at the centre of a open space for all-around accessibility. It appears to hover at about a foot above the floor, thus conveying a sense of levitation and ?open-source? user friendliness. This effect is obtained thanks to a light-wei- ght stand consisting of an non-obstructive frame with a fluo- rescent light softly glowing up from beneath. Fine details and fittings and quality materials make for a unique item that?s truly a perennial ?classic? aloof from fashion vagrancies

    Designed for wide open indoor spaces and dynamic venues subject to frequent restyling and rede- coration. Like in a branched candlestick, the wireless, rechargeable lights (six hour charge) hanging down like torches from branches making up this item are portable. The special features of the thin stand are detailed under the ?Specifications? section. The light is shed by the very shell enclosing the working parts thus enhancing the items portability. It is especially designed for quick mounting and dismounting and can be easily and safely moved about. The actually lighting apparatus of this Armani home lighting lampstand is detachable, which permits it to double as a table lamp.
